An Overview

And so a new journey begins! The Lord has laid it on my heart to serve him by teaching in Camichines, Mexico (located right outside Guadalajara) for the upcoming school year. I am so excited to combine two of my greatest passions (teaching and Spanish) on the mission field!

I will be joining the ministry of the Acostas, a missionary family who has turned their home into a children's shelter. In addition to their own four children, 18 children from various backgrounds of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and other horrors have found safety and love within their walls. Amy and Chuy’s desire is to make their dwelling a true home for these children and to share with them the love of God.

One of the major obstacles of taking these children into their home has been education. In 2011-2012, God called Jenny Courter down to Mexico to provide this education through the creation of a bilingual one room schoolhouse. As the number of students has grown over the past year, the educational needs have also expanded. My main role will be to co-teach with Jenny and share the load. I have put some photos of the classroom, children's shelter and general surroundings at the bottom of the page.

I will post regular updates and prayer requests as the school year unfolds.
