Recent Happenings

New Arrivals

The week before I arrived in Mexico, a new little one had been dropped off. She is just over a year old and is a busy little bee! She never stops moving!

These four siblings were just brought to us this week. All four of them are school-aged, and I'm very excited to get to know them in the classroom and tell them all about the Lord!

School

We have been enjoying a wonderful start to the school year! Our students are excited to be back and learning! What does a typical day look like? The kids come to school at 9 and we teach purely in Spanish until lunch at 1:30. When the students return after lunch for the afternoon hours, we switch to English. We teach all subjects with an additional Bible class so that the students can hear about the Lord daily and learn to apply Scripture to their lives.

English Class

As many of you know, we taught an English class two days a week last school year to some of the young women in town. We are going to offer classes again this year. Although we have not started yet, we did have a little reunion party last week to see them again and share happenings from the summer. We had a blast and it was so wonderful to catch up!

Just Playing Around...

After school, the kids enjoy a lot of play time out in the courtyard. It is quite comical to see some of the creative games they come up with! This particular picture is showing the intensity of three "professional" tennis players (with badminton racquets of course)...

Funny Stories

Have you ever tried exercising around children? If not, I have a few quotes to share that will help you enjoy it almost as much as I do :)
  • While exercising upstairs, I see a little head peeking around the corner. When he knows he's caught, he says: "I just heard this: [proceeds to act out really loud panting]"
  • Walking downstairs drenched in sweat: "Did it rain up there?"
  • Common questions/comments: "What happened to you?" Why is your face red?" An hour later..."Your face is STILL red?!!!"
I smile after many a workout!
